What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Technician position at Lake County Illinois?
General Description
Lake County Public Works is a sewer and water provider to 40% of Lake County residents and owns, operates, and maintains more than 750 miles of pipe, three water reclamation facilities, more than 100 pump stations, an excess flow facility and a 1-mile-long levee. This Public Works position will ensure compliance with accumulating and summarizing data and IEPA reporting requirements.
Essential Functions
- Perform QA/QC on monthly DMR reports.
- Assemble and review routine invoices for the administration building.
- Field QA/QC on special department maintenance projects.
- Assist Operations Manager with special operational projects.
- Assist the Pretreatment Coordinator with surveys, sample collection and inspections.
- Prepare critical operational reports.
- Review the following monthly reports: water systems, lift stations.
- Ensures bacteriological samples for each water system have been collected to avoid public notice.
Knowledge Skills Abilities and Education Required
Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:
- Requires three years of related experience along with knowledge of IEPA and IDPH regulations, water and wastewater systems, computer programs, and familiarity with the Cross Connection Control Program, FOG and Pretreatment programs.
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office primarily Excel and Word.
Education and/or Other Requirements:
- Requires associates degree or the equivalent of two years of college or vocational school education in chemistry, biology, or environmental science.
- Requires a Class D Drinking Water License and a Class IV Wastewater License.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Perform medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
