What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Appointed Special Advocate Technician position at Lake County Juvenile Complex?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Direct CASA Representation of Child in Juvenile Court
- Responsible for the direct CASA representation of children in juvenile court
- Review the child’s file, collection of information about the child and the child’s family, initiate direct contact with the child and the child’s caregivers
- Assess the child’s best interest and advocate for the child’s best interest both in and out of court
- Prepare CASA reports on assigned children
Providing Technical Assistance to CASA Volunteers
- Responsible for providing direct technical assistance to the CASA Volunteers while the CASA volunteer are in the court room
- Assist the CASA Volunteer in representing the children assigned
- Attend CASA education programs to insure a current knowledge of juvenile law and procedures
- At all times, abide by the rules of CASA practice as established by the Lake County CASA Program by the State of Indiana and by the National CASA Association
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Have all other duties that are necessary to and consistent with the above described responsibilities
- Maintain all currently held professional certifications and licenses and shall participate in training sufficient to keep current in their field of expertise and to improve skills
- Perform all other related duties of a comparable type as required by the Director
