The Program Coordinator will oversee the administration and expansion of the DOD SkillBridge Internship Program within Lake County government departments. The coordinator will collaborate with transitioning active-duty service members to secure meaningful civilian work experiences within Lake County departments. This includes ensuring smooth integration, developing training plans, and guiding program completion. Program Administration:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the DOD SkillBridge Internship Program in collaboration with Lake County departments.
- Ensure compliance with DOD guidelines and manage timely communication.
- Track program applications, placements, and outcomes.
- Maintain proper documentation of all program activities.
- Regularly communicate progress with service members, departments, and other stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for active-duty service members interested in the program, throughout their internship, and post-internship.
- Assist service members through the application, placement, and onboarding processes.
- Provide guidance on career development, job search strategies, networking resources, and access to training and employment services.
- Facilitate mentorship opportunities for service members.
- Connect service members with employment opportunities and local businesses after internships.
- Collaborate with Lake County departments to identify internship opportunities.
- Ensure departments provide meaningful and structured internships.
- Develop and tailor training plans that align with the skills and leadership experience of service members.
- Work with departments to create comprehensive training plans that maximize the contributions of service members.
- Build and maintain relationships with military bases and military transition programs.
- Recruit service members by creating program marketing materials and highlighting success stories, ensuring alignment with DOD guidelines.
- Occasional travel within the county to meet with departments, interns, and stakeholders.
- Direct experience working with veterans and active-duty service members.
- Familiarity with military transition programs or veterans’ services.
- Strong project management experience, particularly in designing, coordinating, and managing internships or training programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of workforce development and training services.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including program participants, department heads, military officials, service members, and other personnel.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
