What are the responsibilities and job description for the HIM Birth Registry-HIM-FT-(Days) position at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital?
Responsible for ensuring that all hospital births and births occurring in designated jurisdiction are properly recorded and documented. Collects relevant information from parents regarding childs birth and enters birth certificate data into Kentucky State database for required legal birth registration. Serves as liaison between hospital and State Birth Registry. Assists with Health Information Management Department processing area tasks.
Minimum Education
High School Degree or GED.
Minimum Work Experience
- Six (6) months of clerical experience required, previous hospital HIM experience preferred.
Required Skills
Computer and data entry skills in a business or educational setting strongly preferred.
Customer service skills when working with customers at all levels.
Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is preferred.
Working knowledge of HIM clerical functions preferred.
Attention to detail required when working specific functions in electronic health record systems. Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all patient records.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
