What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hyperbaric Tech position at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital?
Under the direction of the Program Director and/or Safety Director of the Hyperbaric Medicine Department, administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician. The Hyperbaric Tech is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems. Also, responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.
Minimum Education• High School graduate or equivalent.
Required SkillsWound Care Center chamber operators must be actively certified or licensed in one of the following vocations to meet the minimum education and experience requirements.• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)-Current LPN licensure to practice in the state of Kentucky OR acurrent LPN licensure with multistate compact status.• Already obtained or able to obtain a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric MedicalTechnology approved hyperbaric introductory course within 90 days of hire date.
• Must complete a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 90 days of hire date
Certifications:• Current American Heart Association BLS Certification or obtains within 90 days of hire date.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Minimum Work ExperienceExperience in a health care setting preferred.
