What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician position at Lake Cushman Maintenance Company?
Under the direction of the assigned Manager, assists in the daily maintenance and operations of the Lake Cushman Golf Course, including grounds, facilities and LCMC’s private water system.
REPRESENTATIVE ESSENTAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assists the Golf Course Superintendent in supervision, planning, coordinating and executing the Golf Course maintenance program and projects.
2. General maintenance of Park facilities, including mowing, weeding and everyday upkeep of bathroom facilities within the Parks.
3. Utilizes and has the ability to Instruct and train employees in the proper use of maintenance equipment and work methods.
4. Monitors and enforces safe working conditions with all job assignments, participates in monthly safety meetings.
5. Inspects turf areas, including but not limited to, greens, tees and fairways, to evaluate work in progress and report work problems and additional needs to the Manager.
6. Participates in fertilizer and pesticide applications, including mixing and equipment calibration.
7. Helps provide oversight and participates in golf course and Park facility maintenance and construction projects.
8. May be asked to serve in a lead maintenance capacity for the Manager during his/her absence.
9. Performs daily functions such as mowing, weed eating, raking, landscaping, watering turf and grounds, applying chemicals, maintenance and repair of equipment, installing, maintaining and repairing irrigation and pumping systems.
10. Follows up on daily golf course set up, as assigned, to ensure the course meets playing standards set by Management.
11. Required to work weekends and holidays as needed. Required to perform snow removal duties as weather dictates, in support of aiding other Departments/Divisions in helping ensure plowed and passable roadways within the Lake Cushman Developments.
12. Required to perform other duties as assigned that are related or logical to the position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 pounds. Sit, stand, walk, walk on uneven or slippery surfaces, kneel, squat, stoop, bend, reach, turn, climb, crawl, listen and use hands and fingers. The employee will occasionally work next to moving mechanical parts. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must demonstrate the ability to remain calm during routine and stressful situations. The employee is also required to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Knowledge of:
1. Tools, methods, and materials used in golf course and Parks maintenance and construction.
2. Basic electrical and hydraulics related to an irrigation system, including valves, controllers, and various types of pumps and pumping systems.
3. Skilled in the safe operations of golf carts, utility vehicles, golf course maintenance equipment, and other required equipment.
4. Ability to follow oral and written directions.
5. Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel and the public.
6. Knowledge of golf course/Park rules, regulations and golf etiquette.
7. Ability to work as a team member, internal and external to the golf course, as well as the ability to work independently with little supervision.
EMPLOYEMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. Any combination of education and experience, equivalent to having obtained a high school diploma or GED and two to three years of related, work experience.
2. Valid Washington State Driver’s license. A CDL is preferred, but not required.
3. A license to apply pesticides or ability to obtain one within 90 days of hire.
4. Some knowledge of turf grass management practices, knowledge of golf facility construction principles, practices and methods.
5. Requires participation in continuing education opportunities, such as, seminars, workshops and correspondence courses, as directed.

Paragraph 3.02 of the LCMC Personnel Policies defines the appointment and removal authority for personnel in this classification.

This classification description does not constitute an employment agreement between the LCMC and employee. It is subject to change by the LCMC in accordance to the needs and requirements of the LCMC.
