Primary Purpose:
Responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and administering large-scale educational technology systems, ensuring seamless integration with student information systems and between various software platforms that support district operations. Ensures the availability, integrity, security, and efficiency of assigned systems and develops standards and procedures.
Secondary duties may include assisting technology staff with projects, after-hours responses, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems, or equivalent experience in network administration
- Certifications preferred (e.g., Comptia Network , Comptia Security , Cisco CCT, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Azure)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
PowerShell, Perl, node.js or similar scripting knowledge and willingness to learn;
Ability to normalize, extract, align and aggregate data for various downstream needs;
Recommend and support SIS field changes;
Knowledge of OneRoster standard;
Knowledge of data handling best practices associated with various data classifications
Experience:
2 years system integration experience
1 year programming experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Account management: Manage the creation, modification, and deletion of user accounts in Google Workspace and Microsoft Azure. Oversee user account administration across district platforms.
- System Integration: Work with Student Information System, Roster Server, and other rostering solutions to automate and synchronize data across educational platforms. Work with ClassLink to ensure seamless single sign-on (SSO) and user provisioning for district applications. Integrate new systems and applications with existing district infrastructure, ensuring efficient communication and data flow between systems. Coordinate with vendors for troubleshooting and support for system integration.
- Collaboration and Support: Work closely with technology and instructional staff to align technology integrations with district goals. Provide support to teachers, administrators, and staff regarding the usage and integration of Google Workspace, Azure, ClassLink, and other systems. Assist with troubleshooting, resolving user issues, and ensuring consistent service delivery.
Security / Legal:
- Ensure compliance with CIPA, COPPA, FERPA, HIPAA, Privacy Act, TEA Administrative code, local board policy, and all other relevant federal and state regulations
- Adhere to principle of least privilege regarding network and data security
- Ensure systems have redundancy (backups/snapshots)
- Follow and enforce district safety protocols, AUPs, and cybersecurity response plans
- Verify and interpret vendor Data Privacy Agreements
- Develop a District Data Privacy Policy and Agreement
