Qualifications: 

Required: A Bachelor’s Degree and valid Missouri Teacher certification in Early Childhood Special Education or Early Childhood with an ability to achieve a provisional certificate in Special Education. This position requires some physical strength and agility, including: the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; the ability to sit on the floor with children; the ability to kneel, stoop, and crawl; and the ability to push/pull children in wagons and strollers.

 

Preferred: A Master’s Degree. Previous teaching experience.

Salary Schedule:  Per Approved Teacher Salary Schedule

Direct Report: Coordinator of Early Childhood Services and ESOL/Building Principal

Terms of Employment:  9 Month

Eligible for emergency telework: Yes

 

Purpose:  Facilitating instruction for students, including those impacted by cognitive, behavioral, and/or learning disabilities so that each student can access the highest quality education. Lead a classroom team in designing and implementing lessons that provide accommodations, differentiate instruction, and monitor student progress.  Supervises, guides, and assists students in their daily activities.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Attend work in a regular, reliable and punctual manner.
  • To "telework" when requested by the District.
  • Plan and prepare developmentally appropriate lessons based on district curriculum, student interests, and current data.
  • Assesses student progress towards curriculum objectives for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
  • Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.
  • Facilitates preschool students’ learning for the purpose of improving the students’ academic success and transition to elementary school.
  • Implements parent education program for the purpose of encouraging parent involvement and providing leadership to the program.
  • Monitors students in a variety of educational environments for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Collaborates with special education staff to support individualized instruction and behavioral intervention plans for students with IEP’s.
  • Collect and monitor data related to student performance and progress.
  • Provide student instructional and behavioral modifications and communicate students’ needs and accommodations to classroom teachers and other staff.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings and complete all necessary paperwork associated with the special education process.
  • Participate as an Evaluation Team member, including administering achievement assessments and complete formal observations.
  • Collect and monitor data related to student performance and progress.
  • Follow Federal, State, and Local compliance plans.
  • Other duties assigned.
