    Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a full-time Principal at Cherokee Elementary School for the 2025-2026 school year.

    Description: The Elementary School Principal is responsible for providing instructional leadership and organizational management to support the educational development of each student in a K-4 building. This role is responsible for the success of the strategic plan by overseeing curriculum implementation, fostering a positive school climate, and ensuring effective communication with parents and the community.

    Salary Range: $150,000.00-$190,000.00

    Qualifications:
    Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred)

    • Current Professional Educator License (PEL) with a General Administrative or Principal Endorsement, required
    • Master Degree in School Administration or related field
    • Teacher Evaluator Qualification, preferred
    • Successful teaching experience at related levels

    • School Finance: Understanding of budgeting, financial management, and resource allocation to support educational programs.
    • Community and Stakeholder Engagement: Knowledge of strategies to engage parents, community members, and other stakeholders in the educational process.

    • Communication: Proficient in verbal and written communication to effectively interact with students, staff, parents, and the community.

    Essential Functions

    • Instructional Leadership: Develop and implement educational programs that promote student achievement. This includes overseeing curriculum development, ensuring alignment with state standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement among staff.
    • Staff Supervision and Development: Recruit, hire, and evaluate teaching and support staff. Provide ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and support staff growth.
    • Student Support: Address student needs by implementing programs that support academic, social, and emotional development. Ensure a safe and inclusive school environment that promotes positive behavior and student well-being.
    • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, community members, and stakeholders. Encourage parental involvement and foster partnerships that support student learning and school improvement.
    • Administrative Duties: Manage school operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and compliance with district policies and state regulations. Ensure the efficient use of resources to support educational goals.

    Physical Demands
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to use hands to handle or feel materials. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

    Work Environment
    In the work environment, the employee is regularly exposed to video display and regularly works in office environmental conditions. The employee regularly works in the evenings or on weekends. The employee frequently works with the use of a personal vehicle. The employee will have contact with employees and the public which requires appropriate demeanor and apparel. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with regular exposure to loud classrooms, hallways, or cafeterias.
