- Strong foundational knowledge in Social Studies.
- Skills in fostering a classroom environment in which the lives and needs of all students are validated, recognized, and appreciated.
- Skills in differentiating instruction to meet the varied needs and interests of students.
- Skills in mentoring students, particularly those with multilingual backgrounds, to develop literacies and a sense of community within the classroom.
- Use of collaboration and professional development toward the improvement of teaching practices and outcomes for students.
- Proven track record of successfully collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, the alignment curriculum with standards, and the implementation of effective instructional practices.
- A plan for continued professional growth and development in areas critical to Social Studies Scholarship including critical reading, analytical writing, evidenced-based writing, and executive functioning.
