Lake Forest Senior Living at Hot Springs Village is seeking a dynamic and caring individual for a full time position within the Activities Department of their assisted living. This indavidual will occasionally be assiting in the role of a Resident Assistant. Experience is a plus. Individual must be willing to work every other weekend / holiday.
This position requires tact, sensitivity and professionalism due to constant interaction with residents and families.
Position duties include:
- Establish rapport with Alzheimer's/Dementia care residents and their families
- Develop approaches/interventions to meet the psychosocial needs of residents
- Collaborate with Activity Director to develop and run programming ideas for residents
- Demonstrate knowledge and experience with residents having dementia and appropriate therapeutic/behavioral interventions
- Must be able to work with a team
- Ensure residents are treated with dignity and respect
- Must have a positive attitude, enthusiasm, creativity, patience and energy
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents.
- Assist with meal preparation, serving, and feeding as needed.
- Monitor residents' health and report any changes to the nursing staff.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents.
- Participate in recreational activities and encourage resident involvement.
- Document care and services provided to residents accurately and promptly.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and other team members.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in a caregiving role, preferably in an assisted living or long-term care facility.
- At least one year experience in pediatrics and/or geriatrics recreation
- Be able to facilitate group programs independently
- Positive attitude and energy
- Strong communication, interpersonal and written/reading skills
- Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of senior care practices and regulations is a plus.
