Engineering Intern

The City of Lake Forest is seeking an Engineering intern for the Engineering Section of the Public Works Department. The successful candidate will receive on the job training and mentoring throughout the duration of the summer.

Applicants must be capable of working on a computer with a good working knowledge of databases and Microsoft Office software, and be able to work outdoors (in all types of weather & terrain) each day.

WORK OUTSIDE
Don’t be locked indoors, get outside in beautiful Lake Forest while conducting inspections, gathering field data and surveying
 
TRAINING
We give on the job training and mentoring throughout the summer.

DAY IN THE LIFE: Assist our Engineering team in the office, out in the field and on construction sites with:

• Conducting field inspections
• Gathering field data
• Assist with Surveying work, including the City's sidewalk survey
• Contractor oversight
• Performing construction observation
• Historical research of City assets

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s Degree program in Civil Engineering or construction management
• Successfully completed the first year (Freshmen) of study
• Sound physical condition in order to work in all types of weather
• 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT: 

• 40hrs/week
• 8 weeks between May 3 & August 23

Salary: $17.00/hour
