Position to start in early March
Lake George RV Park, a full-service camping resort in Queensbury, NY, is currently seeking to fill a Resort Maintenance Technician position to assist our maintenance and operations manager and lead carpenter on various resort maintenance and building projects.
Provide daily maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of resort facilities on a year-round, full-time basis. This includes equipment maintenance and grounds maintenance in addition to carpentry related projects.
Essential job functions:
- Proficiency with tools and ability to perform demanding physical labor in indoor and outdoor work environment.
- Grounds maintenance including spring/fall cleanup, landscaping, tree maintenance, roadway maintenance.
- Operate or trainable to operate a backhoe, front-end loader, wood chipper, septic vacuum, air compressor, man lift and other specialized equipment.
- Snowplow, snow blow, shovel and sand roadways.
- Basic computer skills.
- Communicate with staff and guests to resolve maintenance issues and provide excellent customer service.
- Flexible in work and shift assignments, including ability to work weekends and overtime as needed .
- Self-starter. Willing to learn new skills and be a team player.
Mental and physical ability to pursue proficiencies in the following categories:
- Certification in Swimming Pool Maintenance and Operation
- Certification in Heavy Equipment Operation
- Licensed for Heavy Vehicle operation
- Spanish speaking ability
Education and/or experience:
Requires a minimum of two (2) years on the job experience, or a two-year technical degree and a valid driver’s license with no restrictions. Special consideration will be given to applicants with multi year experience in hospitality maintenance. Additional compensation may be available to applicants with additional qualifications/degrees.
Physical demands:
Always requires significant physical effort as in periods of prolonged standing, walking, sitting at machines or work tables or bending, stooping or reaching and/or occasional lifting of heavy items (i.e. up to 80 lbs) and exertion related to performing general labor, maintenance and construction work. Must work schedule in all types of weather. Requires some exposure to chemicals and hazardous materials. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment.
Work environment:
Lake George RV Park is an award-winning camping resort established in 1966 and continues to operate as one of the premier camping resorts in the United States. Work in guest areas with activity and congestion at times. Work on resort grounds with other staff and one on one with other technicians. Some minor physical inconvenience or discomfort occasionally present in the work situation (moderate noise, disagreeable odors, etc.).
Compensation: $35.00 to 50.00 per hour with an expected annual compensation including overtime of approximately $86,240 to $123,200 total compensation. A minimum of 48 hours, 6 days per week will be required from April 1 – November 30 and a minimum 5 days (40 hrs per week) from November 30 – April 1. (these start and end dates are approximate and may vary from year to year)
Vacation time: Eligible after 10 months of full-time employment for 2 weeks paid vacation. Christmas – New Year’s day plus one other week between November 30 and April 1 (must be approved by management in advance). Vacation weeks cannot be taken consecutively.

Employee Reviews: Employee will be reviewed on a continuous basis for this position based on his or her ability to learn quickly and adapt effectively to a fast paced work environment. After the probationary period, annual reviews can be expected. Employee will be eligible for future raises and or bonuses based on demonstrated skills and performance.
