Please attach certifications. JOB DESCRIPTION : Performs intermediate semiskilled work performing lighting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and irrigation systems maintenance and repairs, maintaining and repairing grounds, maintaining records and files, and related work as apparent or assigned.
Work is performed under the limited supervision of the assigned supervisor. SPECIAL NOTE : Incumbent works outdoors and is exposed to extreme temperatures.
This position will require non-standard, or rotating shift work to include days, nights, weekends, holidays and call back. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing journey level maintenance activities for the Maintenance and Repairs of Streets / Right-of-Ways / Washes to include concrete setup and finishing, asphalt patching, operations of light and heavy equipment including Bobcats, Loaders and Sweepers.
Knowledge of roadway traffic control and construction safety is required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : High School diploma or GED and moderate experience in construction, ground maintenance, building, and street maintenance or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Arizona Commercial Driver License Class B with a Tanker Endorsement, $1.00 / hr.
stipend will be added to base pay upon obtaining an Arizona Commercial Driver License Class B with a Tanker Endorsement.
Candidates will be considered a trainee until CDL requirement are obtained.
Candidate is required to successfully complete the probationary period of no less than six (6) months and remain on probation until the required CDL is obtained, which must be obtained within one year of hire. Valid Driver's License of the appropriate class. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Oversees satisfactory and timely completion of assigned projects. Tracks time and materials for proper completion of daily reports and work orders. Trains others in the proper and safe operations of equipment and tools. Operates light and heavy equipment, if assigned. Promotes safety in the workplace and reports / repairs hazards in a timely manner. Sets up traffic control signs directs traffic flow and communicates with the public during flagging duties. Completes and maintains required records and reports; informs supervisor of problems with daily activities and prepares cost estimates. Collects and verifies information from the public, receives complaints from the public, and notifies the public of work activities. Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, training, and sharing knowledge with others. Operates and maintains motor vehicles or other work-related equipment requiring a valid driver's license. Meet and maintain required departmental training that may include : Arizona Structural Pest Control Applications. Arizona Applicator. Forklift and Flagger. Hazardous Materials. Confined Space / Trenching and Shoring. Work requires considerable skill in manipulating medium to heavy motor equipment and constant attention to the safety of operation to prevent accidents. Paints stop bars, crosswalks, curbs, and center lines; fabricates and installs street signs, road markers, and reflectors. Patch holes, repair roads, and perform general clean-up work. Cut weeds, clear debris, clean washes, rake and shovel asphalt, hand sweep surfaces, and pick up trash. Performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties in the maintenance, construction, and repair of City streets, and drainage systems. Repairs streets, parking lots, and curb gutters by sealing, patching, filling cracks, and painting; sets forms and pours concrete for sidewalks, curbs, driveways, washes, and handicap ramps; installs and replaces traffic signs; lays out permanent markings; grades areas to specifications; and performs traffic control and perform general cleanup. Operates and performs maintenance on various light to heavy equipment involved in the maintenance and upkeep of streets, such as street sweepers, sand trucks, path trucks, service trucks, backhoes, cranes, graders, front-end loaders, and dump trucks. Operates a two-way radio. Operates power tools such as chain saws, concrete saws, air hammers, pavement breakers, and tampers. Sprays herbicides, as needed; cleans public restrooms, picks up trash and checks trash cans throughout the City. Drives paint striping trucks, backhoes, and front loaders. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES : General knowledge of street maintenance and repair, drainage, buildings, grounds, utilities, landscape areas, and related construction, maintenance, and repair procedures; general knowledge of the safe use, operation, and preventive maintenance of the equipment to which assigned. Skill in the use of specialized equipment and hand tools assigned. Ability to understand and follow specific oral instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions; ability to read and write; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, supervisors, contractors, vendors, and the general public.
