Please attach certifications.JOB DESCRIPTION: Performs intermediate administrative support work processing and storing all criminal and non-criminal property and evidence, managing documents for evidence processing, lab submissions, and attorney requests, preparing property for release to owner or to other dispositions in compliance with state and local guidelines, maintaining official files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Police Sergeant.Special Note: May require non-standard or rotating shift work; subject to days, nights, weekends and holidays. If selected for the unclassified position, please note that this part-time position and will work no more than 29 hours per week. Requires non-standard work hours to include days, nights, weekends and holidays. Requires extreme confidentiality; ability to pass background investigation and polygraph examination.Special Requirement: Possession of Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification of the appropriate level is required at hire. Selected candidates who do not possess this certification at hire will be considered a 'Trainee' and will receive training conducted by the department.The ideal candidate will exemplify department values as a role model, team player and problem solver. They will have the ability to work independently under supervision and in support of receiving, recording, preserving, releasing and disposal of property, evidence or supplies within the judicial process and maintains inventory procedures as stipulated by state and federal laws and regulations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or GED and two years of experience in property and evidence work, warehousing, and inventory control, in a law enforcement or high-security environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including a criminal history review.Possession of Arizona Criminal Justice Information System (ACJIS) certification of appropriate level at hire.*(Individuals without certification at hire will receive training conducted by the department).Must meet and maintain all training and education requirements for the position.Possession of and maintain a valid, unrestricted Arizona driver's license.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Utilizes digital evidence software to scan, store, and locate property submitted by department personnel; shares digital media with other government agencies as requested.Processes documents for evidence, lab submissions, and attorney requests.Prepares property for release back to proper owner or other disposition following state and local guidelines.Answers phone calls, returns voice mail, and transfers calls to proper personnel or department.Maintains inventory and supplies for officers as needed or required.Prepares property for signoffs by utilizing law enforcement and public access databases to research and determine appropriate disposition following department and state guidelines.Operates and maintains motor vehicles or other work-related equipment requiring a valid Arizona driver's license.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Thorough knowledge of rules and regulations governing the custody and safekeeping of property; thorough knowledge of record-keeping methods and techniques; thorough knowledge of law enforcement information systems, information release protocol, and basic mathematics.Skill in the operation of standard office and data entry equipment.Ability to establish and follow routine schedules; ability to learn and utilize property and evidence management software; ability to handle occasional hostile personal contacts; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to observe and record events accurately and completely; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, community organizations, law enforcement representatives and agencies, supervisors, and the general public.Applicants for employment opportunities should be aware of the Lake Havasu City policies concerning the use of drugs and alcohol. These policies have not been altered by the passage of Proposition 207. The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the City's Drug-Free Workplace Policy. All positions within the City are required to submit to a pre-employment drug test. A positive result for drugs tested under the policy, including recreational marijuana, may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment.The City reserves the right to consider only the most highly qualified applicants. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test. Appointment subject to successful background investigation and City paid postemployment medical examination after offer of employment has been made.
