Job Summary:
Lake Highland Preparatory School's Upper School seeks a Social Studies teacher to instruct students according to the prescribed LHPS curriculum for the Science courses assigned to the teacher. Additionally, this individual will serve as the Assistant Speech & Debate Program Coordinator, supporting the Speech & Debate program by managing communications, coordinating tournaments, overseeing student captains, and supervising debate practices. This role will require travel to both local and national tournaments.
This is a full-time, fully benefitted, 10-month position. We encourage applicants from underrepresented groups to apply.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Studies or related field required.
- Certification or qualification to teach in Social Studies or related area in grades 9-12 required.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience preferred.
- Experience coaching high school speech & debate required, preferably with a program that regularly competes in national competitions in Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum.
- Familiarity with NSDA, TOC, CFL, and other debate leagues preferred.
- Familiarity with Tabroom, Speechwire, and other online debate tournament platforms preferred.
