Position Summary:
As a Set-up Staff member, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth setup and breakdown of various events, ranging from weddings to corporate gatherings. Your dedication to excellence and commitment to guest satisfaction will contribute to Lake Junaluska's reputation as a premier conference and retreat center in the Smoky Mountains. This job will cover Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, from 3PM until all events on campus are finished - typically from 9-11PM - with potential to pick up additional shifts based on event needs and availability.
Essential Functions

Set up and deliver event equipment, including tables, chairs, staging and various other equipment to be used in meetings and events on campus.

Assist in exhibition setup, strike, and maintenance.

Provide physical support to various departments involved in event execution.

Monitor, evaluate and maintain all services equipment, rental rooms and work areas are in good working order and safe for public use.

Maintain storage room organization and cleanliness.

Collaborate with supervisors to plan upcoming event needs.

Handle loading and unloading of deliveries.

Assist with general tasks like inventory and equipment cleaning and repairs.

Operate company vehicles responsibly for task completion.

Consistently look for and recommend improvements to existing processes, functions and/or systems.

Lock up and check event spaces and at the end of shifts.

Comply will all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to the supervisor, or the Human Resource Department.

Occasionally assist and support with small tasks in other departments under the Event Operations department - recreation, transportation, media, and custodial.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Prior experience in event setup or equipment handling preferred.

Minimum age of 18 with valid NC drivers license.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to follow directions and prioritize tasks effectively.

Proficiency in time management and multitasking.

Capacity to troubleshoot and adapt in a dynamic environment.

Knowledge of A/V equipment is a plus

Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

Routinely climb 15-foot fixed vertical ladder to operate audio and lights.

Frequently be outdoors in all weather conditions.

Vision: must be able to see close, have good vision to perform daily duties.

Work Schedule: Monday-Sunday, days/nights/weekends/holidays and overtime as required.
