Essential Functions
-
Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to “exceed guest expectations”.

Responsibilities will include assisting in all recreation areas such as; pool, boats, mini golf, shuffleboard, gym and café.

Responsible for assisting the Recreation Manager advertise and coordinate tournaments such as; regatta races, shuffleboard, mini golf, volleyball, etc.

Assist guests with watercraft rental to include; canoes, kayaks, wind boards.

Responsible for retrieving and storing all recreation equipment at the end of the day.

Maintain recreation equipment to ensure it is in good working order daily. End of shift cleaning of equipment and general maintenance.

Responsible for monitoring the pool deck and bathhouse area and attending to guest needs.

In the event of an emergency, must be certified and able to perform the following duties; CPR and/or First Aid, rescue boat operation, lifeguard preferred.

Routinely monitor and clean recreation area(s), including but not limited to; Pool, bathhouse, restrooms, beach area, mini golf course, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball and basketball courts, and any other ‘recreation’ area as assigned.

Responsible for sweeping/blowing leaves off all courses, courts and pits.

Monitor horseshoe pits and shuffleboard courts for weeds. Responsible for pulling weeds as necessary.

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor or the Human Resources department.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required to assure the success of Lake Junaluska mission and purposes.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a minimum of 1 year relevant experience in camp recreation/activities.

Hospitality experience strongly desired.
-
CPR/First Aid certified. Reimbursement or on-the-job certification is offered.

Valid Driver’s License

Lifeguard Certified preferred

Must be able to communicate with Recreation manager through a variety of communication methods, i.e. Email, text or phone.

Must maintain a positive attitude and put the Guests needs as a top priority.

Must have demonstrated good communication skills, client relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.

Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, emails, and memos.

Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, clients, and employees of the organization.

Proven computer skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills are required.

Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of customer, clients and employee questions.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule formats.

Manual dexterity to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and also lifts or otherwise move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.

Ability to talk to and hear staff and customer requests.

Must have adequate vision to carry out daily activities. Good peripheral vision is necessary.

Work schedule; Recreation area is open Monday – Sunday, with nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
