Description
The Data Analytics Assistant reports to the Director of Data Analytics. This position will assist in gathering, processing, and analyzing data to help drive insights for the business. The ideal candidate will have a basic understanding of data analytics techniques, excellent communication skills, and a passion for problem-solving.
Description of Essential Functions (critical tasks)
1. Assist in the collection, cleaning, and processing of data from various sources.
2. Support the creation of reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
3. Perform basic data analysis and trend identification to support ongoing business needs.
4. Help maintain and update data models and databases.
5. Assist in performing statistical analyses and generating actionable insights
6. Work closely with other departments to ensure data accuracy and relevancy.
7. Assist in automating data workflows and improving the efficiency of data-related tasks.
8. Participate in meetings and presentations to communicate findings and results.
9. Conduct research to gather relevant industry or market data.
10.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Specific Functional Job Requirements
Education: Currently pursuing or completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
Experience:
- Experience with SQL or other database management tools.
- Familiarity with data visualization best practices.
- Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python, R) is a plus
Skills: Previous interaction and/or work experience with Tableau is preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables) and experience with statistical analysis packages and coding (e.g., Tableau, SQL, R, Python) are recommended.
Personal: Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as work as a team with a diverse population of students, staff and community in a fast-paced work environment with multiple priorities and interruptions. Detail-oriented, self-starter. Ability to provide informative and timely analysis.
