Lake Martin Community Hospital is seeking a full-time detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing billing processes, ensuring accurate submission of claims, and maintaining compliance with medical billing regulations. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical practice while providing exceptional service to our patients.

Duties
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government programs.
- Review and verify patient information, including insurance coverage and eligibility.
- Utilize medical coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 for accurate claim submissions.
- Manage accounts receivable, including following up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and payer policies.
- Assist in the collection of outstanding payments from patients and insurance companies.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Proficiency in medical billing systems and software.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) classifications.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of integrity and professionalism when handling sensitive patient information.
