Job Summary:
The Webmaster is responsible for maintaining, updating, and enhancing the site to ensure it is user-friendly, accessible, and aligned with the Colleges mission. This position requires proficiency in web development technologies, an understanding of best practices for content management, and a commitment to providing an exceptional user experience for students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
Essential Functions:
Website Maintenance & Updates
1. Oversee day-to-day operations of the colleges website, ensuring that content is up-to-date, accurate, and aligned with institutional goals.
2. Perform regular updates and security patches for CMS core, modules, and themes to ensure optimal functionality and security.
3. Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, bugs, and user feedback in a timely manner.
Development & Customization
1. Customize and develop new features, themes, and functionalities for the website using Drupal 9, PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
2. Work with Marketing and Communications to develop custom landing pages, forms, and content displays that meet the needs of various audiences.
3. Develop responsive designs and ensure cross-browser compatibility for an optimal user experience across all devices.
Content Management & Collaboration
1. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team and IT to ensure content is effectively managed and displayed.
2. Provide training and support to content editors on how to use Drupals content management system (CMS) for efficient content creation and publishing.
3. Maintain website content workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance with institutional standards and policies.
SEO & Analytics
1. Implement search engine optimization (SEO) best practices to improve site visibility and search rankings.
2. Monitor website performance using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and provide reports to help drive data-informed decision-making for improvements.
3. Optimize website speed and performance to enhance user experience.
Security & Accessibility
1. Ensure the website complies with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) to meet the needs of all users, including those with disabilities.
2. Implement and maintain website security protocols to protect against vulnerabilities and safeguard sensitive data.
3. Regularly audit the website for compliance with privacy laws and institutional guidelines.
Collaboration & Communication
1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT and Marketing and Communications, to deliver web projects that meet organizational goals.
2. Act as a liaison between the IT team, Marketing and Communications, stakeholders, and external vendors, managing timelines and deliverables for web-related projects.
3. Provide regular updates on website performance, upcoming changes, and new features.
Other Duties:
General Operations
1. Act as an escalation point for Help Desk tickets to resolve website issues. Collaborates with other IT and marketing resources to assist in resolving problems.
2. Proactively manages changes in project scope, identify potential crises, devise contingency plans, and report changes.
3. Provides written reports to project managers and others on the status of projects and initiatives.
4. Actively serves on committees, as assigned.
5. Actively supports and participates in cross training.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Accountabilities:
Job Specifications:
1. Associate degree in Web Development, Computer Science, IT, or equivalent work experience.
2. 1 years of web development experience, with hands-on knowledge of Drupal or other CMS platforms.
3. Proficient in front-end (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery) and back-end development (PHP, MySQL, or similar databases).
4. Strong understanding of Drupals content management features, including content types, views, blocks, and permissions.
5. Knowledge of web development principles such as responsive design, SEO, and website optimization.
6. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and web development workflows.
7. Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) and using data to inform decisions.
8. Awareness of web accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1, ADA compliance) and Web Accessibility Certification is a plus.
Grade:
Salary Range: $63,190.40
