ES EC Teacher Assistant
Purpose: To support the program delivery for all students with disabilities in the Exceptional Children’s Department. The scheduling of specific job duties are coordinated with the EC teacher and building principal.
Essential Job Functions :
- Observes and monitors student’s performance. Collects and documents data to assess progress on student’s IEP goals
- Tutors and supports student individually or in small groups across all curricular areas to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher
- Coordinates regularly with both the EC and regular education teacher to assist with preparing lessons and adapting instructional materials
- Assists with the implementation of accommodations, behavior plans, and related service delivery in a students Individualized Education Plan
- Provides assistance with the supervision and transition of student in the hallways, classrooms, lunch, and other locations at school
- Assists and monitors student during recess, assemblies, emergency drills, and field trips
- Assists with the personal care needs of student with disabilities (feeding, toileting, diapering)
- ES: Supervises student in non-classroom activities such as carpool, lunch, recess, etc.
- Performs related tasks as required or directed by the building principal
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
SUGGESTED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent certification
- Preference for previous teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience
