What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dining Room Server position at Lake of the Torches Casino?
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of this position is to serve dining guests in an efficient and courteous manner. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides exceptional service to guests and other customers in a courteous manner.
- Maintains a complete knowledge of all menu and beverage selections.
- Informs guests of daily specials and pricing.
- Takes all food and beverage orders and serves guests in a timely manner.
- Notifies kitchen staff of special guest requests related to guest menu selections.
- Exhibits a good understanding of food timing as it relates to guest service.
- Responds and rectifies any concerns reported by guests related to food selection or preparation.
- Reports any guest complaints or concerns to immediate supervisor or manager for resolution.
- Completes guest checks accurately and in a timely manner.
- Is responsible for completing assigned side work including restocking workstations, cleaning tables and ice cream station and floor maintenance.
- Is responsible for ensuring that all tables and chairs are correctly placed.
- Maintains a clean work environment in the dining room to increase guest satisfaction and maintain defined sanitation guidelines.
- In the absence of a cashier, may perform cashier step up activities including processing guest checks and accurately inputting information into the Point of Sales system.
- Notifies supervisor or manager of situations that may affect guests, associates of the Lake or the Torches Resort Casino.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Performs position responsibilities under the direct supervision of the Dining Room Supervisor or Dining Room Manager checking with supervisor frequently for directions or questions.
POSITION RELATIONSHIPS:
- Internal: Frequent contact with associates within all departments.
- External: Extensive contact with guests and visitors.
EDUCATION: A high school education or equivalent is required.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months wait staff or customer service experience is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills. Must have basic knowledge of sanitation requirements. Must be able to work in a positive team environment. Must be able to manage and maintain confidential and sensitive information with diplomacy and tact. Must maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations as necessary.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work Conditions: The majority of position responsibilities are performed within all areas of the restaurant with exposure to differentials in temperature.
- Exposure to Hazards: Controlled exposure to high temperature from cooking equipment and food preparation may occur. May be exposed to situations where hazardous chemicals, spills, wet floors or guest behaviors may create undesirable conditions.
- Physical Requirements: Continual walking, bending, standing and lifting is required.

OTHER: Must attend all mandatory meeting and participate in departmental training and development sessions.
