JOB SUMMARY
The Technology Technician II provides individual and network support for various computer and other electronic device hardware and software applications within the district. Position assists staff members with initial computer and/or device set-up, available programs and applications and permitted uses of district hardware, software and electronic network.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following tasks.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned at any time.
  1. Sets up, configures, and provides timely support and problem solving for computers, mobile devices, software, peripheral hardware, and network connectivity, as well as addressing any other technology related needs that may arise. 
  2. Assists staff with learning to use hardware, and software for assigned computers and electronic devices including permitted network access and use.
  3. Adds, deletes, maintains users' passwords and access levels.
  4. Diagnoses LAN/WAN security, performance, connectivity, and related network problems in a multi-location IP network and timely resolves technical problems
  5. Understands and resolves network integration problems.
  6. Tracks technology problems across the district.
  7. Participates in the implementation of technology deployments and upgrades, including workstation operating systems, desktops images and peripherals
  8. Serves as communications conduit between IT department and other school/departments. Communicates IT Department messaging in easy-to-understand terms to non-IT staff, and conversely communicates staff needs to the IT Department.
  9. Transports technology items between district locations.
  10. Installs and configures system, network and application software for computers and other district electronics devices in a timely manner. Resolves software conflicts. Review and maintain software licensing agreements and monitors compliance. Installs new software releases and system upgrades. Maintains best practice and procedures for patch management, virus management and operating system upgrades. 
  11. Assists with setup and maintenance of district telephone equipment.
  12. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all district policies and procedures.
  13. Has consistent, daily and punctual attendance.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
Non-essential duties of this position include the following tasks. Employees in this position perform some or all of these tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.
  1. Operates and troubleshoots various office equipment including telephones and multifunctional printers.
  2. Creates technical documentation and provides support and training for district users in the use of the district technology.
  3. Assists in short and long-range planning; makes recommendations to administration regarding technology innovation, purchasing, and long-range planning.
  4. Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  5. Reports issues to the supervisor and the appropriate authorities including safety, sanitary and fire hazards, vandalism, thefts and errant wildlife.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  1. Consistently follows all applicable federal and state laws and all district policies, rules and supervisor directions.
  2. Observes ergonomics of sedentary office work including placement of computers and monitors, and sitting alignment.
  3. Observes proper lifting techniques and other strategies to avoid accidents and personal injury while performing job duties.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
All school employees have some responsibility for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in computer science or related field is preferred or at least three years of relevant experience. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current Microsoft/Mac operating systems/support and Apple iOS/Chromebook devices/support is required.
  • Experience managing Apple iOS devices in a business or other setting, and working in a K12 setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of following is preferred:

    • Google Admin
    • Operating Systems: Windows 10 & 11, macOS, iPadOs
    • Papercut
    • A/V (Logitech, Crestron, Extron, Lightspeed)
    • IP Phones/Faxing
    • Ticketing Systems (Freshworks))
    • Microsoft 365 Suite, Google Suite, Adobe suite, Crowdstrike, ConnectWise, Go Guardian
    • Hardware: PC Laptops, PC Desktops, MacBooks, IPads, Chromebooks, POS system, projectors
    • Hardware repair: Chromebooks, PCs, Apple Devices
  • Works well with others from diverse backgrounds. Focuses on solving conflicts, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remaining open to others' ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and professional in an environment with frequent interruptions. Interacts with staff and students appropriately.
  • Ability to communicate English fluently both verbally and in writing, including proficiency in spelling and grammar. Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from students, parents, staff, regulatory agencies, vendors and members of the community.. Ability to read and interpret documents including governmental regulations, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions/instruction manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence with high degrees of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, proportions and area including circumference and volume. Ability to read and interpret various charts, bar graphs and similar visual data depictions.
  • Ablility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, schedule or diagram from.ability to deal with problems involving more than one variable. 
  • Ability to effectively use office computers and internet access for email, research, word processing, database manipulation, visual presentations and general web-based applications. Additional required skills are listed the Education and/or Experience section. 
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • A Valid Driver's License is required. Must have or be able to obtain various certificates, Licenses and/or registration as required by federal, state or local law (s) and/or determined by the district.

The work environment is public school offices, classrooms and related structures.  The noise level of the work environment is usually low to moderate but occasionally high depending upon the location, the student population and current activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions, including seasonal heat and cold. The employee may occasionally be exposed to contagious diseases, bodily fluids and blood-borne pathogens.

The employee may be exposed to moving parts of nearby machinery, a variety of cleaning agents, some hazardous chemicals and fumes, risk of electrical shock and mechanical vibration.
