We are seeking a passionate and skilled Residential Carpentry Teacher to join our Career & Technical Education (CTE) program. The ideal candidate will inspire and prepare high school students for careers in the construction and carpentry trades by delivering hands-on, industry-aligned instruction. This role combines technical expertise, classroom management, and a commitment to student success in a project-based learning environment.
The salary range for the 2024/25 school year is $49,138 - $71,018 depending on applicable years of experience. The Certified Salary Schedule has not been approved for the 2025/26 school year. The rates will be updated, when it has been approved. There are stipends available for education levels at Doctorate Degree and National Board Certification. The full-year contract is for 190 days.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery
- Plan and teach residential carpentry courses aligned with industry standards, state CTE frameworks, and program goals.
- Provide hands-on learning opportunities, including woodworking, blueprint reading, framing, finish carpentry, and the use of tools and equipment.
- Incorporate safety protocols, industry standards, and job site procedures into lessons.
Student Engagement
- Foster a learning environment that promotes critical thinking, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving.
- Mentor students in career exploration and work readiness skills.
- Provide guidance on career pathways, certifications, and post-graduation opportunities in the construction field.
Program Development
- Collaborate with local businesses, industry partners, and advisory committees to ensure curriculum relevance and create internship/apprenticeship opportunities.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe learning environment, including tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Lead students in real-world projects, such as building or renovating structures.
Assessment and Feedback
- Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and certifications earned.
- Provide constructive feedback to support student growth and achievement.
Professional Collaboration
- Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to align teaching practices and strategies.
- Attend CTE department meetings, professional development sessions, and industry trainings.
- Build strong relationships with parents, colleagues, and the community to support student success.

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, Construction, or a related field.
- Current teaching credential or willingness to obtain a Career & Technical Education (CTE) credential in Carpentry/Construction Trades.
Experience:
- At least 3 years of experience in residential carpentry, construction management, or a related field.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Proficiency in carpentry techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to design and implement engaging, hands-on learning activities.
- Commitment to student safety and well-being.
