Lake Port Square is recruiting for a hospitality focused Assistant Director of Nursing to join our team! The Assistant Director of Nursing is an RN who is responsible for the overall supervision of nursing care in the Health Center.
Essential Job Duties:
- Supervises direct nursing care in the Health Center
- Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated.
- Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment
- Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
- Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
- Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
- Assists with orientation of nursing personnel
- Participates in family/resident counseling.
- Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
- Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence.
- Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
- Some “on call” is required
Other Duties:
- Assures timeliness of physician visits.
- Accompanies physicians when making rounds
- Notifies physician and family of changes in resident's condition.
- Encourages rehabilitative techniques in order to restore residents' independence.
- Assures proper functioning of medical equipment and adequate medical supplies.
- Assists DON in developing and implementing policies and procedures.
- Assists in infection control, safety, and pharmacy rounds and audits.
- Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
- Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.
Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Registered Nurse (RN) in State of Florida licensure required
- Two years' experience in geriatric nursing and/or B.S. Degree in nursing. Participation in professional organizations, dealing primarily in geriatrics preferred. Minimum of two years nursing administrator experience, preferable in a long term care setting.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
