POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Resident Services, the Activities Coordinator plans, organizes, and implements activities which stress recreation, diversion, and intellectual/educational development for Residents; manages the day-to-day concerns of the Residents.
II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develops, plans and implements a program of activities which will provide entertainment, communication, exercise, relaxation, opportunity to express creative talent and to fulfill basic psychological, physical, intellectual, social and spiritual needs.
2. Participates in the resident’s care planning team, including completing MDS, RAPs, and quarterly activities progress notes and other documentation required by State and Federal Regulations.
3. Oversees the Commons Areas on the campus, making sure areas are neat and presentable for various activities, and ensures the return of those areas to their previous condition when activities are completed.
4. Works with all Departments to facilitate communication and address resident concerns, as needed.
5. Works with all Department Heads and makes recommendations of the need for volunteers, scheduling and lines of supervision and intercedes in the event of problems.
6. Participates including making recommendations and purchasing of equipment and supplies necessary to operations of various areas of responsibility and authorized by the budget.
7. Initiates and promotes activities both within the facility and outside the facility to stimulate and promote resident interest and general well being.
8. Maintains driver’s license, auto liability insurance and safe driving record.
9. Develops, plans, implements, and evaluates craft activities and hobbies among residents and groups in the common areas, in the Craft/Activity Rooms and in resident rooms.
10. Maintains a safe environment for all residents under his/her supervision and participates in facility safety program.
11. Assists with transporting residents to on and off-site activities.
12. Develops and implements social programs which will provide communication among residents through group activities and recreations.
13. Assists in organizing trips including securing tickets and making reservations as needed.
14. Encourages and plans intellectual/educational development through literature, records, movies, cultural events, etc.
15. Maintains activity bulletin boards throughout the facility.
16. Assists in development of weekly and monthly schedules and calendars of activities.
17. Maintains appropriate documentation and record keeping.
