Duties
- Review and verify patient information and medical records for accuracy before processing claims.
- Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement of services rendered.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues that may arise during the billing process.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, payments received, and outstanding balances.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and patients regarding billing inquiries or issues.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), DRG, and medical collection processes.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and medical billing software is highly desirable.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
