About the Role:

We are in search of a Financial Planning and Analysis Accountant to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements. This individual will support the organization's financial integrity by overseeing fixed asset accounting, executing financial planning and analysis, coordinating budgeting and forecasting, managing tenant accounts, and preparing various financial reports.

Key Responsibilities:

• Budgeting and Forecasting
  • Lead the preparation of annual and rolling budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast and provide explanations.
  • Support management in financial planning and decision-making processes.
• Financial Planning and Analysis
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends and variances.
  • Prepare financial reports and metrics to provide insights into decision-making.
  • Collect, analyze, and present historical and predictive financial information to support management in planning and decision-making.
  • Develop investment cases to support business decisions.
• Financial Reporting
  • Prepare financial statements and reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external auditors during financial audits.
  • Maintain documentation of accounting procedures and policies.
  • Prepare quarterly board meeting financial reports.
  • Support the implementation of accounting software and system improvements.
  • Manage the company's financial data needs, including monitoring, auditing, and implementing financial systems.
• Fixed Asset Management
  • Manage fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Conduct regular asset audits and maintain asset registers.
  • Ensure proper capitalization and disposal of assets.
  • Document fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions.
  • Assist third party tax preparers with required annual property tax returns.
• Tenant Accounting
  • Evaluate and manage accounting components of lease portfolios.
  • Ensure proper management and reporting of tenant-related financial transactions.
  • Reconcile tenant accounts and manage discrepancies.
  • Maintain records of tenant lease agreements and amendments.
  • Manage tenant security deposits, including tracking, refunding, and reconciling.
  • Provide financial support and analysis for lease negotiations and renewals.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Typically requires 3-6 years of relevant accounting experience.   
• Proficient with Microsoft 365. 
• Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheet development. 
• Experience with ERP and accounting software.
• Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
• Expertise in developing, managing, and monitoring budgets and financial forecasts.
• Proficiency in data analysis (e.g., analyzing financial data, identifying trends, and making data-driven recommendations).
