Job Summary
This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity for a current student to gain valuable work experience while contributing to the success of Lake Sumter State College. The Student Assistant will provide essential support, working closely with faculty and staff to ensure efficient operation or departmental activities.
This is a part-time position with an expected commitment of 20-25 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible to accommodate the student’s academic and other responsibilities.
Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating and Celebrating. Students cannot work during class meeting times.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists in supporting peers and community patrons in the recommended subject area(s) in online, face-to-face, and group settings.
- Continually improve subject area(s) knowledge and tutoring skills.
- Follows procedures and policies.
- Attend training sessions and complete professional development plan.
- Maintains work confidentiality.
- Assists students with the course's online learning system.
- Maintains cleanliness of the learning space.
- Assists instructors while they are proctoring tests.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Education
- Current LSSC student enrolled in at least 6 credits for the semester employed.
- Complete at least 6 credit hours of college courses besides developmental courses.
- Hold and manintain a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Grade of A or B in tutoring subject area(s).
- Recommended by an instructor or other subject area expert for the subject in which they tutor.
These are part time student positions working at least 20 hours per week and do not offer benefits
