Our growing Electrical Engineering team is seeking to hire an Electrical Engineer I in Omaha, NE.
The Electrical Engineer will participate in engineering and detailed design of industrial energy-related (oil and gas, solar, utilities, manufacturing) projects from inception through to delivery. Projects will be multi-disciplined covering civil, mechanical, and electrical scopes, with a strong focus on electrical power and design.
This individual will start out learning the fundamentals of electrical engineering and design. Initial efforts will involve engineering and CAD duties to assist more senior engineers in the design of complex systems. The successful candidate will be expected to gain an overall understanding of all aspects of electrical engineering. Responsibilities will also include field inspection of client assets to verify scope of work and support design considerations for construction. This is an entry-level electrical engineering position.

This is an entry-level electrical engineering position.
Responsibilities:
- Perform engineering and drafting duties to assist senior engineers in the design of electrical construction packages.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and technicians to complete designs of large and complex industrial systems.
- Work with the project team to create all design documents and drawings, including one-line and three-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, communications diagrams, wiring diagrams, layout plans, section and detail drawings, cable and conduit schedules, and incorporation of mark-ups for projects.
- Design responsibilities: engineering calculations, studies, detailed design, report writing, field investigations and construction support.
- Duties may include field wiring and testing of electrical systems, working with both the design and commissioning teams at LSC.
- Apply engineering theory and application software to complete engineering tasks such as ground grid design, equipment sizing, wire sizing, relay coordination, and Arc Flash electrical studies.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with the project lead, customer representatives, and other stakeholders.
- Occasionally interacts with clients, vendors and contractors.
- Support field investigations of client assets including notes, photos, measurements, 3D laser scanning and reporting.
- Professional licensure will be a requirement in the future as the successful candidate progresses through their career. A preference will be given to those who have successfully passed the FE exam.
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Practical or hands-on experience in power, controls, and communications systems preferred.
- Ability to think conceptually and drive an idea from conception through to implementation.
- Strong communication and follow-up skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Works well under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances.
- Travel up to 10% is a requirement of this position, with possible field engineering support for extended periods. Generally, this position will have limited travel, but projects may require travel to client sites.
- The job requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation. Routinely use standard office equipment such as but not limited to: computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
- Frequent periods of standing for extended periods.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Exposure to weather including hot and cold climates.
- Ability to work long hours and overtime when projects demand.
