Lake Superior Consulting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer IV to join our growing team!
The successful candidate will be responsible for the mechanical design of facilities and systems associated with energy industry projects from inception through to delivery. The position will be responsible for performing engineering analysis and calculations, serve as the mechanical lead, developing reports, formulate conclusions, make sound recommendations, interface with clients, as well as provide guidance to more junior personnel. Professional Engineer licensure is highly desired for an Engineer IV, EIT is required.

Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering expertise for mechanical design, oversee the development of drawing packages, estimating, and functions for projects involving pipelines, process sits, and other energy industry related facilities.
- Provide technical assistance to Engineering and Operations Departments to resolve operating problems or to establish best operating practices.
- Take initiative to determine best paths forward for effective project execution.
- Effectively complete projects using engineering principles and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID, technical drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, and technical reports.
- Ability to develop detailed P&ID’s.
- Deep knowledge of industry codes such as ASME B31.3, 31.4, 31.8, etc.
- Produce details for project specifications and develop design requirements for projects.
- Confer with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information.
- Perform modifications to computer aided design (CAD) and drafting functions to assist in completion of project deliverables.
- Deep knowledge of materials and material specifications
- Perform design analyses, engineering calculations, and write technical reports.
- Effectively direct and lead project teams for accurate and timely execution.
- Work with CAD designers to develop drawing packages suitable for project construction.
- Ability to interpret project scopes and develop effective proposals accordingly.
- Effectively interpret the needs of the client and tailor work flows accordingly.
- Recognize elements of risk within a project and tailor work flows accordingly.
- Provide direction to more junior personnel. Professional Engineers will be required to approve and stamp engineering designs.

- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, from an accredited university.
- 6 years of working experience required. Oil/gas experience, a plus
- PE required
- Leadership skills, positive attitude, well organized, strong communication skills
- Ability to quickly adapt to diverse needs and changing projects.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn new skills.
- Ability to effectively serve as the mechanical lead on design projects.
- Ability to work in group settings with a project team and collaborate effectively with others.
- Competency with Microsoft office suite (word, excel, outlook, etc.).
- The position will typically require less than 20% travel but could be more intensive at times.
- Ability to independently perform engineering design functions.

Salary : $89,000 - $132,800
