What are the responsibilities and job description for the Temporary Survey Crew Chief position at Lake Superior Consulting?
Lake Superior Consulting is currently growing at a fast pace and as part of that growth, we are seeking to fill a position as a Temporary Survey Crew Chief.
This role is expected to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of survey computations, types of surveys and field operations. This role will be responsible for field note completion and in-depth plan interpretation and preparation. This role also supervises specified project components and should have a detailed working knowledge of standard field and office procedure.
Construction staking, 4-way sweeps, topographic surveys, as-builts, pre-lims, exposed pipe survey, Depth-of-cover survey.
Trimble RTK base setup and robotic total station.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently set up and operate GPS and Total Station equipment
- Accurately locate underground utilities using locating equipment
- Complete projects using competent and ethical principles and techniques
- Read and interpret project plans, technical drawings, schematics, and reports
- Be familiar with details of client specifications and federal regulations
- Manage survey crew in a professional and proficient manner
- Be professional when interacting with clients, contractors, and landowners
- Follow all safety procedures put into place
- Compile legible field notes
- Successfully troubleshoot equipment and other issues that may occur
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years survey field experience preferred
- Completes projects using quality and ethical principles and techniques
- Ability to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a DOT and company required drug and alcohol test
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
- Willingness to work extra hours when project demands
- Travel up to 75%
Physical Requirements and Demands:
- Frequent periods of standing and walking for long periods
- Occasional lifting of equipment up to 50lbs
- Exposure to weather including heat and cold climates
- Ability to work long hours and possible overtime when projects demand
Lake Superior Consulting provides competitive compensation. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, years of experience, and specific office/market location. The range of starting pay for this role is $26 - $34 per hour.
