PACU Nurse (Full Time) – PACU
Provides intensive observation and care for the post-operative patient for which an anesthetic agent or conscious sedation was used. Maintains patient documentation. Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. (Associates or Bachelors). Minimum of 1-year PACU Nursing experience. Must possess a valid Louisiana RN license and a current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse for our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety and comfort during the critical recovery phase. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to patient-centered care.
Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition post-anesthesia.
- Administer medications and manage intravenous (IV) lines as per physician orders.
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ recovery progress and respond to any complications.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery.
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems such as Athenahealth.
- Perform triage duties as necessary, prioritizing patient care based on clinical needs.
- Ensure compliance with sterile processing protocols and infection control measures.
Experience
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Previous experience in PACU is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
