The academic librarian will support all aspects of the Library & Learning Services, including student research support, circulation, cataloging, collection development in alignment with the curriculum, usage analytics of print and electronic resources, assessment of student learning and service area outcomes, library-related programming and events, student outreach and advocacy, and general support of tutoring and tutor training.
In collaboration with disciplinary faculty, the librarian will assist in the development and delivery of transformational learning experiences (e.g., workshops, lesson plans, digital learning objects, activities) to support student competency and mastery of critical thinking and information literacy learning outcomes.
The Library & Learning Services at Lake Tahoe Community College promotes LTCC’s mission by providing personalized research and tutoring support services, quality information literacy instruction, and course-related library materials for all students. They facilitate access and success through student-centered services, spaces, and collections. They strive to be an engaging and dynamic academic hub for students’ individualized and collaborative tutoring, learning, and research needs.
APPLICATION PROCESS :
After review, applicants judged most suitable for the position will be invited to initial interviews. These applicants will be notified by phone on or about Wednesday, April 16, 2025 . Initial interviews will be conducted by a committee of campus constituents and are tentatively scheduled for May 1 & 2, 2025. Finalists will then be invited to a secondary process on May 21 & 22, 2025. Travel allowances and district-provided lodging will be provided to qualifying applicants. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS :
Salary Range : LTCC offers a competitive compensation package that includes a starting placement salary of $74,211 to $96,110 annually for faculty who hold a master’s degree or equivalent, dependent upon teaching and work experience, or starting placement salary of $89,566 to $111,466 annually for faculty who hold a doctoral degree, dependent upon teaching and work experience. These benefits also include full coverage of a gold-level medical plan which, on average, covers 80% of healthcare expenses for a standard population. LTCC also matches 19.1% of an eligible employee’s salary and contributes it into a CalSTRS pension account for qualifying employees.
This position is a 200-day contract and 12 months per year, including summer and winter hours. Days and Hours are predicted to be Sunday through Thursday with an expectation of evening shifts, hours may vary according to the needs of the program. This position is exempt from overtime compensation.

Definition :
The academic librarian will be a key partner and advocate in co-creating equitable library services, spaces, collections, policies, procedures, and best practices for incarcerated and justice-impacted students, as well as students from traditionally marginalized backgrounds.
Representative Duties :
- Perform face-to-face and online librarian duties collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively to support student access and usage of Library & Learning Services, including reference and research assistance, circulation, cataloging, collection development, usage analytics, and library instruction.
- Develop, create, conduct, and assess classroom instruction sessions, workshops, and online learning resources, in areas such as information, media, and data literacy; critical thinking and communication skills; and academic and applied research skills.
- Work closely with the Rising Scholars Program (RSP), instructors, administrators, and correctional staff to identify, implement, improve, and assess library resources and services for incarcerated and justice-impacted students.
- Facilitate positive library and learning experiences for students in all modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, correspondence, virtual enhanced learning).
- Collaborate with disciplinary faculty, departments, student services, Rising Scholars Program, and correctional staff to increase access and usage of library resources and services.
- Support the integration of library resources and services into campus and correctional learning management systems as appropriate, to increase student access and usage.
- Perform best practices related to the adoption, adaptation, and creation of Open Education Resources (OERs).
- Work creatively and collaboratively to promote teamwork, diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusiveness within the library and the campus.
- Commit to examining and adapting relational and instructional practices to engage and support various groups of historically underserved students. Foster constructive dialogue with different campus constituencies to ensure an inclusive environment.
- Participate in full-time faculty responsibilities including participatory governance, program review, accreditation, departmental meetings, community outreach, curriculum review and development, and internal and external committee assignments.

As this position covers two areas of discipline, the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges, Title V Regulations , requires that the successful candidate must demonstrate that they satisfy minimum qualifications for Library Science .
