Overview:
Bok North seeks a dedicated and compassionate Guidance Counselor to join our team. As a Guidance Counselor, you will be crucial in supporting and guiding students through their academic, personal, and career development. You will provide counseling services to help students navigate challenges and make informed decisions for their future.
Requires a Florida Teacher's Certification- Must be certified as a guidance Counselor
Duties:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students
- Assess students' needs and develop personalized counseling plans
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals
- Help students explore post-secondary education options and develop college or career plans
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to support student success
- Conduct assessments to identify learning disabilities or emotional/behavioral issues
- Provide crisis intervention and referrals for students in need of immediate assistance
- Advocate for students' rights and well-being within the school community
- Stay updated on current educational trends, resources, and best practices
Skills:
- Special education knowledge to support students with diverse learning needs
- Cultural diversity counseling to address the unique needs of a diverse student population
- Familiarity with child protective services and child welfare systems
- Proficiency in mental health counseling techniques and strategies
- Understanding of childcare principles to guide parenting concerns
- Ability to educate students on academic requirements and course selection
- Knowledge of behavioral health interventions for addressing social-emotional issues
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff
- Strong organizational skills to manage caseloads and maintain accurate records
- Experience in academic advising to help students achieve their educational goals
