Hours Per Day: 5.25 (5.0 para and .25 for IA)
Shift: TBD Shift subject to change.
Location: Kirk Elementary School (within the Lake Washington Learning Community)
Hourly Rate: Paraeducator Hourly Rate: $28.07/hour position(SC7ParaEd.pdf) Position is eligible for membership in the Teamsters Local Union No. 763 which is part of the Lake Washington School District Trades Bargaining Council No. 763 (TBC).
Instructional Assistant Hourly Rate: $25.54 (SC11SEIU.pd )Position is eligible for membership in the Service International Employees Union No. 925
Job Summary for Para Educator:
A para educator's role is to help teachers with individualized and small group instruction for students of all educational levels who have physical or behavioral needs or are medically fragile. Supports students’ special health care needs and develops daily living and behavioral skills. Assists staff with classroom preparation and retrieval, use and storage of equipment and supplies. May supervise and assist students in all areas of school including but not limited to: library, classrooms, resource rooms, restrooms, lunchroom, self-contained classroom, playgrounds, or getting on and off a bus.
Job Summary for IA:
Assists teaching staff by completing instructional tasks and maintaining an orderly classroom to provide a positive learning environment. May be assigned to classroom, lunchroom, library, before or after school academic programs, or office. At elementary level, assignment includes crossing guard and playground duties. May assist in instruction of individual students, small groups, or an entire classroom.
