Description
Under the supervision of the Fitness Director, the Fitness Instructor is responsible for the overall safety, appearance, and operation of the Health & Fitness training center. The instructor will provide service to the members through active involvement and enthusiasm and by giving thorough orientations, greetings, and assistance in a safe and professional manner. A friendly, helpful, enthusiastic personality is essential.
Qualifications
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have strong communication skills to interact with members and co-workers.
- Must have or obtain AED/CPR certification and keep it current.
- Some fitness-related experience is a plus.
- Must have a willingness to develop technical knowledge through training sessions and attend additional programs/training when necessary.
- Must be flexible, reliable, and a team player.
- Must attend the mandatory new hire YMCA orientation as well as scheduled staff meetings and training sessions.
- Must possess and maintain a clean criminal record.
- Have a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures and take appropriate action for the Fitness Department in emergency situations, as directed by the department director.
