POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Health and Wellness Director shall be responsible for developing, implementing and sustaining all Fitness classes and Chronic Disease Programing, provide schedule support and guidance to all fitness staff and ensure that all classes and programs achieve quality performance outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps members and program participants connect with each other and the YMCA

Communicate with supervisor, staff, members, guests, and volunteers in a clear, concise and positive manner.

Actively participates in management team meetings and committees as assigned.

Work closely with the marketing and membership team on promotions to ensure consistent messaging around the Y as a cause-driven charitable organization.

Responsible for assuring high standards of program quality and safety in accordance with YMCA safety and risk management policies.

Follow all policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook, and the emergency response plan manual.

Recruit, hire, train, supervise, develop and schedule all employees within your department.

Lead, direct and/or teach activities/classes for which employees or volunteers cannot be secured.

Develop your department’s annual budget; monitor and adjust as needed.

Follows budgeting policies and procedures, and reports all financial irregularities immediately

Complete and approve payroll for your department as outlined in the payroll guidelines.

Conduct annual performance reviews on all employees within your department.

Collaborate with other directors, Y’s and community groups.

Assure your own self-development through reading, research, and conference or training attendance.

Work weekend duty as scheduled and annual Y special events as needed.

Develop, implement, sustain, grow and adapt fitness classes on site and off site for all ages.

Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering specific skills or overall health and well-being

Respond to all members and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.

Perform community presentations about YMCA programs and initiatives.

Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor or CEO.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
-
CPR, First Aid, AED, national certification (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM, MOSSA) in group fitness instruction or YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise certification

Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education
and experience.

At least four years of management experience.

At least four years of experience teaching one-on-one and group wellness classes and education in health-related field.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Ability to make strong connections with members, staff and outside agencies.

Computer skills such as Word and Excel
Preferred Certifications and Proficiencies:

Proficient in membership CRM databases
-
Experience with payroll and time and attendance software
-
YMCA Healthy Lifestyles certification within 60 days of hire

Reformer certification, preferred
-
Strong time management and organizational skills
Salary : $57,000 - $65,000
