Responsible for coordinating patient care activities related to any medical testing or surgical procedures ordered by the medical provider for both ambulatory and hospital settings. Triage any issues and ongoing communication with related parties as needed for optimal patient outcomes. This individual will work with various entities both internal and external, and will need to display a professional demeanor.

- Stand Work Duties: LRHPG Patient Scheduler III
- Coordinate surgical appointments and procedures as ordered by the provider, in an ambulatory, hospital or outpatient surgical center.
- Excellent communications skills for both in person or on phone, and professional demeanor in discussing patient care needs with provider, patient, and various ambulatory and hospital personnel.
- Assist and ensure necessary authorizations, and consents obtained in a timely manner.
- Coordinate review of all pre-operative clearance results, procedures and consults with provider to avoid cancellation of procedure.
- Verify surgery schedules with Hospital and/or outpatient surgical centers and confirm arrival times with the patient.
- Ensure block times are fully utilized.
- Review medical history with patient to identify appropriate location for procedure. Review pre-op and prep instructions with patient.
- Follow set guidelines for verifying identity, correctly capturing, recording, and updating all required data for every patient.
- Works with external/internal providers/patients to obtain any necessary referrals/authorizations/medical records to support diagnosis in order to meet department scheduling guidelines.
Essential:
- Knowledge of surgical procedures and ability to commutate this process to patients.
- Knowledge of insurance and authorization process.
- Good communication skills, medical terminology and ability to convey patient care needs to OR facility.
- Able to multitask and appropriately schedule numerous patients to various entities on a daily basis with attention to detail with accuracy.
Essential:
- High School or Equivalent
- Associate Degree
Essential:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting or Licensed Practical Nurse training program.
Other information:
Experience Essential:
- One year of healthcare experience in a clinical environment
- Knowledge of medical insurance, billing and coding (including ICD-10).
Experience Preferred:
- Knowledge of authorizations process and surgery scheduling procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of the function and use of electronic health records.
Certification Preferred:
- A Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting training program.
License Preferred:
- Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse training program.
