Precast Concrete Finisher/Patcher

REPORTS TO: Quality Control Foreman

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURS: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Some overtime may be required.

SUMMARY: The Finisher position will correct any non-conformance to a concrete product finish to conform with Lakelands, NPCA and NYSDOT requirements, policies and procedures. This task includes inspecting finished concrete and removing imperfections. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Inspect finished concrete, patch holes, and fix imperfections after concrete has finished setting.

· Make repairs to concrete by filling cracks, replacing damaged areas, and refinishing surfaces.

· Waterproof or restore concrete surfaces, using appropriate compounds, if required.

· Apply sealants or other protective coatings when required.

· Chip, scrape, and grind high spots, ridges, and rough projections to finish concrete, using pneumatic chisels, power grinders, or hand tools.

· Cut out damaged areas, drill holes for reinforcing rods, and position reinforcing rods to repair concrete, using power saw and drill.

· Stencil appropriate markings on forms.

· Daily clean-up of work area.

· All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

· Must have good hand-eye dexterity and a high degree of mechanical aptitude.

· Highly detail-oriented in that they precisely note imperfections in concrete, and manage their tools.

· Know how to read and interpret many kinds of plans and drawings.

· High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

· Some previous production experience preferred but not required.

SUPERVISORY FUNCTIONS AND SKILLS:

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.

· The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

· The employee is required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

· The employee may frequently climb ladders.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
