Are you driven by a passion to help children? Do you have ability to enforce swimming pool rules in a considerate but firm manner? Do you have excellent powers of concentration and have ability to react quickly and efficiently in a life threatening situation?
If yes, Lakemary is looking for a Lifeguard for our Children's Pool Service Program. In this role you will provide safety, support and supervision at the pool environment. This role functions under general supervision of a Pool Manager.
Lifeguard Responsibilities:
- Provide safety, support and supervision at the pool environment.
- Give feedback and direction to both swimmers and employees about their behavior in the pool environment.
- Enforce pool rules.
- Maintain pool equipment.
- Keep the pool area safe, clean, and orderly.
- Complete all documentation by the end of shift.
An ideal candidate for this position has:
- Excellent skills in the water.
- Knowledge of all aquatic and rescue procedures.
- Be prepared to complete emergency rescue at all times.
- Communicate with various departments within Lakemary.
- Talking to others to convey information effectively.
- Listen & understand information and ideas.
Lifeguard Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Must currently be American Red Cross Lifeguard Certified
- Candidates must successfully complete the following:Swim 300 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order: 100 yards of front crawl (using rhythmic breathing); 100 yards of breaststroke; and 100 yards of either front crawl, breaststroke, or a mixture of both.
- Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke;retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within the allotted time.
- Tread water for 2 minutes in deep water without the use of arms and hands for stability.
