What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Scribe position at Lakes Foot and Ankle Associates?
Have you always wanted to work in a small office where you are an integral part of the TEAM? Do you love working with people and help make their experience the best one possible? Have you ever visited Disney World and thought “I wish every place was like this?” If you answered yes to all three questions, this job may be for you.
The medical scribe position allows individuals to work side by side with professional healthcare providers and contribute to patient care. It is a great way for pre-health professional students to gain clinical experience before graduate school. Medical scribes specialize in documenting patient-physician encounters by typing details of the visit in an electronic medical record. This is an opportunity to learn and grow in the medical field while also receiving compensation. Items to be documented in the patient chart include the history of the patient's problem, the provider's findings, the provider's treatments or plans, insurance coding, and more.
This position is one of the MOST IMPORTANT in the office as it will involve working with doctors, staff, and patients. It involves daily and constant work with our patients, making them feel welcome and comfortable. A love of all people is a must for this job!
Experience is helpful but not completely necessary as we will train you. However, positive energy and mental engagement in everything you do is a must. It is also important that you are comfortable using a computer. This position involves data entry and word-processing on a daily basis. If using a computer scares you, this isn’t the right fit. The training will be provided at our facility and is a combination of online education courses and hands-on clinical training. This will occur over a period of 3-4 weeks and there will be online tests and certification provided at the end.
You also need to be an independent, motivated worker. Last thing we want to do is micromanage your day. If you need to be told what to do all the time, we’re not for you. If you’re a person who starts your day with a smile and ends it with a bigger smile, definitely consider applying for this position. If you are looking for a long-term career opportunity, this is the job for you!
We would prefer LONG TERM employment for this position (1 years). (Great for a "gap year" position) Not just summer employment while home from school.
