Overview
Under direction from the Site Supervisor, the Program Aide- Lead, provides guidance and mentorship to other child care aides working in groups with them and act as a positive role model for children, providing guidance and leadership. The program lead plans daily lessons for physical, cultural, art and science projects based on children's interest. The Program Lead follows a daily schedule, manages classroom behavior and supports social and emotional learning.
Duties
- Assists the Site Supervisor in monitoring all aspects of the child care site.
- Lead, support, and guide children in group situations, games, indoor and outdoor activities.
- Maintain supervision and safety standards.
- Plan, prep, lead, and implement daily schedules and activities based on age group.
- Administer basic first aid when needed and submit accident/incident reports in a timely manner.
- Responsible for the safety of the group, use active supervision, and stay in ratio.
- Is a mandated reporter and follows mandated reporting guidelines.
- Acts professionally at all times and communicate effectively with co-workers, management and other LILA professionals as well as families and children.
- Delegate activities and other classroom responsibilities to support staff or program aides.
- Accepts the responsibility to work beyond regularly scheduled hours in case of a late start if necessary.
- Expected to be available for snow days and non-school days.
Skills
- Experience working with students in a classroom or daycare setting is highly beneficial.

Physical Requirements: This position requires vocal communication, hearing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, sitting, pushing, pulling, use of hands to grasp and feel, and vision abilities including close, distance, and adjusting focus. Lifting/moving required frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds or more. Work occasionally requires exposure to bloodborne pathogens and is generally in a moderately noisy location.
