Summary:
Junior Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general upkeeping and repairs of the facilities within Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute.
Essential Functions:
• Conduct maintenance tasks and provide basic fixes to equipment, building systems and ensure facilities are functional
• Inspects, adjusts and makes minor repairs to all building systems as required
• Performs routine preventative maintenance and light repairs
• Performs minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
• Install and Repair equipment or appliances
• Assist tradespeople with electrical, plumbing or HVAC repairs
• Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks
• Identify and report the need for major repairs
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation)
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm)
• Work nights, weekends, and on-call as business/job necessitates
• Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Required Experience:
• Experience with hardware tools and electrical equipment
• Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing or HVAC systems
• Basic math skills
• Physical stamina and dexterity
• Able to work well independently as well as in a team environment
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks
• Travel to all site locations
Preferred Experience:
1 year experience as a skilled maintenance mechanic and/or working in the capacity as a handyman

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods, work longer than eight (8) hour shifts, and to work both day/evening shifts. Work may hand dexterity as well as the need to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Environmental/Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent personal and telephone contact with patients and with testing sites and surgery departments. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Contact involves dealing with injured sick people.
