Job Description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety/Security Officer, 2nd Shift to join our team. In this role, you will protect the safety of employees, assets and property. The position also requires monitoring and upholding all company safety and OSHA standards, monitoring restricted office entrances and the premises, monitoring access control, performing safety audits and safety training, and utilizing the company GPS tracker and yard management system for tracking cargo trailers. Applicants should have strong attention-to-detail skills and the ability to observe and report suspicious activities. The ideal candidate also possesses proficiency in resolution management and competency to complete security audits, job safety analysis and preliminary post-accident investigations.

At Lakeshore, we pay local market wages for employees that reside within Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
For this position, new employees joining Lakeshore who live within Los Angeles and Orange Counties are typically brought into the organization at an hourly rate between $18.50-$23 depending on relevant experience & skillset.
This range is indicative of projected hiring range. The annual base compensation will take into account each candidate's relevant experience, location, and skillset.

Job Description

A day on the job looks like this:
- Monitor the company warehouses, yard and premises via CCTV, car and/or foot patrol to ensure the safety and security of all employees and assets
- Patrol designated areas on foot or in a vehicle, checking for signs of security property damage, trespassing, fence breaches, vandalism or theft
- Respond promptly to any emergencies or incidents and escalate as needed
- Verify visitors and visitor check-in according to policy
- Respond to emergencies by sounding alarms, contacting emergency personnel and acting in a general emergency response role
- Use the company’s yard management system to track or audit cargo trailers, ensuring all cargo is accounted for
- Monitor inbound and outbound traffic to ensure proper documentation and authorized access
- Observe and report any unusual activity, including unauthorized personnel, equipment misuse or unsafe practices
- Maintain detailed logs of activities, incidents and findings
- Conduct post-accident investigations
- Assist in creating standard operating practices for equipment
- Record all incidents on the company incident reporting center software
- Write clear, concise reports on observed activities, incidents and potential hazards
- Conduct regular safety audits to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations
- Identify safety hazards and unsafe work practices
- Monitor surveillance equipment and security cameras to ensure active surveillance of the yard
- Control access to offices, shipping yards and other restricted areas by verifying employee and visitor credentials
- Communicate effectively with personnel regarding safety or security-related issues or concerns
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional security or law enforcement training preferred
- 1–2 years of proven work experience as a security or safety officer
- Previous safety or security experience or familiarity with warehousing is a plus
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards and ability to conduct safety audits
- BSIS guard card or past holding of a BSIS guard card preferred
- CPR certified preferred
- OSHA 10 or 30 certification preferred
- Strong observational skills with a keen eye for detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be physically fit to perform patrols and complete on-site tasks
- Must have a flexible schedule—some weekends required
