What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Operations position at Lakeshore Park Conservancy?
Lakeshore Park Conservancy is seeking a Director of Operations to manage day-to-day operations and
maintenance at Lakeshore Park, the City of Knoxville’s largest general recreation park. The Director of
Operations will be employed by the Conservancy, a non-profit corporation, and will report to the
Conservancy’s Executive Director.
The 185-acre park is managed by the Conservancy through a public-private partnership with the City of
Knoxville. The park includes open space, natural areas, trees, gardens, meadows, athletic fields, playgrounds,
pavilions, multi-use trails, piers, pavilions, restrooms, lighting, technology and other park improvements. The park is extensively landscaped and is certified as a Level 1 arboretum.
Responsibilities:
- Overall responsibility for maintenance of park grounds and improvements.
• Direct supervision, scheduling and oversight of the Conservancy’s maintenance staff and recruitment,
hiring and training of additional maintenance staff.
• Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource allocation for maintenance and operations.
• Manage inventory of irrigation materials, chemicals, seed, cleaning products and supplies
• Management of maintenance and repairs for all Conservancy equipment.
• Manage all park security cameras, access controls and alarm systems.
• Manage park lighting systems.
• Management of outside contractors for mowing, janitorial or other services.
• Facilitate regular playground inspections and repairs.
• Issue monthly maintenance and operations report to Executive Director
• Develop and implement park operation, maintenance and safety standards, policies and procedures
for all facilities and grounds.
• Work with and support other Conservancy staff on facilities rentals, special events and other park
projects and events.
• Coordinate operations activities with other departments and event-related contractors to assure
facility readiness and smooth operation of events.
• Maintain effective working relationship with the City of Knoxville, including coordination of park
maintenance, repairs and services with various City departments.
• Serve as the point of contact/liaison with the City Parks and Recreation Department, the Knoxville
Police Department and other City departments on matters related to park operations.
• Manage the Conservancy’s relationship with youth sports organizations who utilize park facilities on
a seasonal basis.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning public spaces and recreational
facilities.
• Implement and update facility rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Promote the park and maintain positive interactions with park visitors on a regular basis.
Knowledge & Skills:

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required, bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum three years of facility and/or grounds operations experience.
• Experience in park operations or sports facility operations preferred.
