What are the responsibilities and job description for the Diesel Journeyman Mechanic - 2nd Shift position at Lakeshore Recycling Systems LLC?
The Journeyman Mechanic has the responsibility to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairs
Reports To
Shop Manager
- Maintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipment
- Interprets work orders and technical manuals
- Keeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintained
- Diagnoses faults or malfunctions
- Adjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systems
- Obey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rules
- Undertake the training and assessment required under the training plan
- ASE certifications are a plus
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
- Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbing
- Ability to drive truck with a manual transmission
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Needs excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Previous CDL truck driving experience preferred
- Waste industry experience, a plus
- Completion of college or vocational or technical training
- Experience with routine maintenance operations is required
