What are the responsibilities and job description for the UN SEASONAL RESIDENTIAL DRIVER position at Lakeshore Recycling Systems LLC?
The Seasonal Residential Driver position is one of our most physically demanding jobs. Drivers are responsible for servicing assigned route(s) with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position routinely requires extensive physical exertion (lifting, pushing, and pulling trash receptacles weighing up to 75 pounds each from the ground approximately 300-500 times per day) and entering / exiting the truck approximately 600-1000 times per day. Residential Drivers are exposed to extreme weather conditions and unpleasant odors and sights. The hours and physical demands may vary by route or area. Seasonal - the season is April to mid-December. A seasonal driver does not work January through March. Hours for the season are as follows : April - September, Monday - Friday with some Saturday's; October through December, Monday-Saturday, as needed. Please understand hours or Saturdays may fluctuate depending on the volume of work.
Reports To
Operations Supervisor
- Operate vehicle in accordance with LRS' safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA (Occupational and Safety Health Act), and DOT (Department of Transportation) requirements as well as all local, state, and federal laws
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle and document checks utilizing the standard DVIR (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report)
- Immediately report all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch
- Attend and participate in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required by LRS or directed by the Route Manager
- Work closely with Route Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices
- Notify Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injures, or property damage
- Notify Route Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions including blocked containers, closed lots, streets, alleyways, or potential safety hazards
- Communicate customer requests to Dispatch or Route Manager
- Identify and report all containers in need of repair or replacement
- Ensure the number of containers on the route reconciles to the service level listed on service list
- Completely dump all containers and leave the customer's location clean and free of debris
- Complete and submit customer tickets as required when excessive yardage must be removed
- Position and return containers on the customer's property in a manner that ensures lids are properly replaced, closure doors are closed and secured, and containers do not block driveway entrances or traffic
- Follow route assignments as directed and complete end of day documentation and check out process
- Perform all duties as scheduled by Route Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs
- Legally eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must have at least a valid Class B CDL
- Must have a valid DOT medical card or obtain one prior to hire
- Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
- Must not have any license suspensions within the last 2 years
- No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
- Must be able successfully complete pre-employment screenings
- Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training
