Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Off Shift Supervisor to support our nursing team during evening, night, and weekend shifts. The Off Shift Supervisor will play a vital role in assisting the Director of Nursing in overseeing operations, ensuring high-quality patient care, and maintaining a supportive work environment for nursing staff. This position involves hands-on participation in patient care, covering breaks as needed, and responding to various staffing requirements, all while demonstrating flexibility in scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervisory Support: Assist the Director of Nursing in overseeing the nursing staff and operations during off shifts, ensuring compliance with policies and best practices.
Patient Care Assistance: Participate in direct patient care activities as needed, including administering medications, wound care, and supporting nursing staff with complex patient needs.
Staff Coverage: Provide coverage for nursing staff breaks, ensuring adequate patient care and support during these times.
Team Coordination: Collaborate with nursing staff to coordinate patient assignments, resolve staffing issues, and facilitate a smooth workflow throughout the shift.
Quality Assurance: Monitor nursing practices and patient outcomes, reporting concerns and suggestions for improvement to the Director of Nursing.
Training and Mentorship: Assist in training new nursing staff and provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with the Director of Nursing and other departments to address staffing needs and operational challenges.
Crisis Management: Effectively address and manage emergencies or conflicts, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both staff and patients.
Documentation: Ensure accurate documentation of patient care activities and incidents, working in compliance with regulatory standards.
